Education
Erin graduated Cum Laude from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California, earning bachelor degrees in International Relations and Broadcast Journalism. She attended USC on a President's and other academic scholarships. Erin received a Chancellor's Scholarship to attend, and received her Juris Doctorate from, the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. Erin received several Awards of Scholastic Excellence for highest academic achievement in coursework, including Trial Practice.
Professional Experience
Erin worked as an intern for the Office of the Colorado Public Defender throughout law school. She was mentored and taught by renowned criminal defense attorneys, including capital penalty work, Sharlene Reynolds and David Wymore. She also had the opportunity to intern under David Lane, a renowned capital defense and civil rights attorney.
Upon graduating from law school, Erin began working in the Fort Collins Regional Office of the Colorado Public Defender. With a case load of over 250 misdemeanor cases, and three dozen set for trial at any one time, Erin serves as defense counsel in an average of four County Court trials per month. Erin considers it an honor and a privilege to have an opportunity to defend and protect the constitutional rights of the indigent members of her community. The motto of the Colorado Public Defender is "That Justice Escape None."
Erin is a member of the American Bar Association, the Colorado Bar Association, Amnesty International and the American Civil Liberties Union. She maintains an interest in, and would one day like to pursue career opportunities in the area of, International Human Rights Law.
Interests
Erin grew up in a Marine Corps family, living primarily in San Diego, with several stints in the Washington, D.C. area. She moved to Colorado 13 years ago from Southern California in search of a more grounded environment for raising her children. She has two children, ages 15 and 9, and stays busy supporting their activities , gardening, running, hiking, and participating in anything outdoors in the beautiful Colorado sunshine.
